2007 North of England Brass Band Championships (4th Section) - A disappointing 10th Place for the Band
The Band took part in the North of England Brass Band Championships at Darlington today and came a disappointing 10th, a result which shocked not only the Band but quite a few of the public as the Band didn't play that bad, and there were Bands there that played a lot worse than we did. Just before the contest, we lost two of our players. Our 2nd Cornet Player, Thompson Minnis went for a walk and came back with a broken leg and a shattered knee, and Flugel Horn Player, Raymond Evans, who went into hospital to undergo some surgery, both of you were missed by the Band. We had to reshuffle and Garry Mitchell went onto Soprano Cornet and Leanne Rewcastle took up Flugel, leaving two on the front row, Michael & Nicola Evans did a great job for us. On a positive note, we must say a big thank you to Vince Eckerman, who took up the baton after 3 Years to conduct us. The Band has enjoyed the time Vince has spent with us and we hopefully learnt a thing or two. Also, another thanks goes to Lloyd Henderson who came in last minute to take up the 1st Baritone position and did an excellent job and finally, a big thank you goes to Steady for turning out for us once again.
