Today the band performed at one of our favourite venues, South Shields Amphitheatre. Despite battling with the wind, pegs and music, the band enjoyed playing to a very appreciative audience. Today we featured solos from Jonathan, our Solo Euphonium player, Gareth, one of our Eb Bass players, and Leila , one of our 2nd Cornet players.
Next week we are competing in the Picnic in the Park competition in Durham, so today was a chance to give the good people of South Tyneside a sneak peek of our programme. Big thank yous go to our deps for today. Tony, Jimmy, Beth and especially Peter who gave up his birthday to spend it with us. Your help is very much appreciated.

The band were engaged to play at a private event with the National Morgan Sports Car Club for Mogfest 2022 today. We performed in the wonderful venue of Beamish Museum on their events field and provided background music while everyone looked around the Magnificent Morgans! The band would like to welcome our latest signings. Beth Johnson and Michael Fairless have both joined us to help out at the National Finals in Cheltenham. Sarah Daly (pictured) has joined us on Solo Cornet after moving back into the area from Scotland. We hope she has a long and happy time with the band after playing at her first concert today at Beamish. The band have performed today at an Open Day, organised by Hargreaves. It was nice to have a job very close to home with just a short walk from the band hall. A very enjoyable event for families with rides, face painting, a chance to look at their fleet and delicious hot food on the BBQ.
A big thank you goes to Carley for helping us out on the horn section today. We really appreciate your help. Today has seen the band play at the Esh Winning Platinum Jubilee celebrations. It was so nice to see so many of the local community out celebrating. A big thank you goes to the Esh Winning Residents Association for organising such a great day.
We would also like to formally welcome Gareth Chester to the band on Eb Bass. This is his second official band job, but the first where he stood up and played the bass solo, The Bass in the Ballroom. He did a sterling job, and is an asset to our Bass section. We hope he has a long and happy time with the band. |
