Today has seen the band perform at two engagements. First up this morning was at Langley Park Care Home, as part of the Durham Brass Festival. It was lovely to see the brand new Langley Park banner on display as well. A big thank you goes to Ben who helped us out for today. This afternoon, we performed for the second time at Saltburn Bandstand. A lovely sunny day and a bandstand surrounded by so many people enjoying what we played. You sang, you danced and you showed your appreciation, what more could a band ask for. Today we featured another three of our fantastic soloists - Our Principal Cornet Michael Evans played You Needed Me, our Solo Baritone Sue Smith played Carrickfergus and our Solo Trombone Dan Nixon played By the Time I Get to Phoenix. We have been coming along to entertain the good people of Saltburn for well over 20 years now and it keeps getting better every time. Thank you for being amazing supporters of the band and being one of our favourite concerts every year. Today the band has taken part in the 140th Durham Miners Gala, where we lead in the Esh Winning Banner Group, Bearpark Banner Group, West Rainton and the Durham University UCU banners. A big thank you goes to Gavin, our musical director - who split himself in two to get us to the racecourse before running back to play with The EverReady Band and did the same coming out. Also, a huge thank you to all the players who have joined the band for the day from various bands. There are too many to name individually but your help is very much appreciated. Thank you to everyone who marched behind the band supporting us and their banner groups. It was great to see so many of you. A thank you goes to Durham Masonic Hall for hosting us and our instruments. We hope our donation goes a little way towards your chosen charity. We look forward to doing it all again next year. The band today, were proud to perform at the Esh Winning Residents Association Family Fun Day and also be apart of Brass Bands England's Brass Band Week. It was great to see so many people out enjoying themselves and supporting this fabulous community event. It had such a good feel vibe and is getting bigger every year. Well done to everyone involved who has made today possible. A big thank you to Alex who helped us out on solo cornet. Your help is much appreciated. |
