The Band performed at Blackhill Park, Consett today and it was also the farewell concert to Peter Harbisher from the Band
The Band played at Blackhill Park Bandstand in Consett today at their annual Play in the Rain Concert (it always happens to us), however, we still had an appreciative audience who braved the wet conditions, to them, a huge thank you.
This concert was also the farewell concert for our 2nd Trombone Player, Peter Harbisher. Peter is expected to relocate further down the country. Peter has been an excellent Band Member, even though he lives in the Stockton Area and has quite a few miles to travel to Band. Peter has hardly missed a rehearsal or engagements. Peter was a member of the Committee and also turned up for Band Workdays, that is excellent service considering the miles that he has had to travel.
The Band would like to wish Peter, and his family, all the best for the future.
The Band played at the opening of the High Grange Community Garden this afternoon. As well as the normal music programme being played, the Band also played a fanfare called High Grange, that was composed for the occasion by the Band's Principal Percussionist, Alan Beaumont. The Band also presented the association's chairperson, Dawn Richardson, with a framed presentation copy of the fanfare.
The Band took part in the DLI Entertainment Contest today and was awarded 2nd Place. This isn't bad for a 4th Section National Band, which due to this contest being run on a League basis found themselves competing against the "big guns" from the Championship Section & the 1st Section. The Band also won the trophy for the highest placed Section B Band. The Band would like to thank Jason Smith for all his hard work rehearsing the Band and conducting us over the last two days.
The Band took part in the Ripon Entertainment Contest today and was awarded the prize for the highest placed 4th Section/Unregistered Band. The Band played very well and had a great day.
