It was a bit of a Family Affair in the Durham Brass Band Association Solo Competition today. Michael, Nicola and Richard Evans all competed in the contest. Richard was in the Junior Solo Class (Up to and including 11 year olds class) and came runner up, which is two places better than last year. Nicola once again took top spot in the Class she won last year, the Junior Solo 12 to 14 inclusive Class. This is three times in a row for Nicola. Michael entered for the first time in a long time and in the Open Solo 16 and Over Class. Just like daughter Nicola, took top spot. So with a runner up place and two winners places, it was a great day for the Evans family and for the Band. Well done all of you.

The Band held their AGM and Awards Ceremony tonight and were delighted that the Band's Life President, Dr. Bill Lamb was able to attend. A list of winners can be found on the Awards Page. There were also two special service awards that will be presented at a concert in Croxdale on Saturday 8th December 2007, these are for Garry Mitchell who has completed 25 Years Unbroken Service and Raymond Evans, who has completed 40 Years Unbroken Service to the Band. Raymond can be found every Wednesday Night at the Band Room teaching the Learners Section. This is something that he has done for nearly all of the 40 Years Service. If it wasn't for Raymond, this Band and many others in the North East, would not have the players that we have today.
The Band said a sad farewell to our Rep Cornet Player, Katrina, tonight. Katrina has been with the Band for about 18 Months and in that time, she has been a fully committed member. Katrina has re-located down South. The Band wish her all the best for the future and the door is always open.
