We have spent the last two days locked up in our Bandroom recording our first CD. It has been a great experience that we have all enjoyed and look forward to hearing the final result.
We would like to thank Ian Robinson for putting us through our paces and leading us through the recording, and, to Andrew Hall for agreeing to be our producer. Also to the following for giving up their time and helping us out with expert musicianship.
Vicky Copeland - Soprano Cornet
David Patterson - Tenor Horn
Martin O'Connelley - Bass Trombone
Doug Cairns - Bb Bass
Bob Stephenson - Percussion
Thanks also to Mary & Jane from the Hamsterley Tea Rooms for supplying us with lunch on both days, and to Sonia from the Royal Oak Pub for allowing us to heat up the lunches. Also, to Daphne and Margaret for taking care of the lunches and refreshments during the weekend.
The band would also like to welcome Ceri Jenkins who joins us on Tuned Percussion from Sacriston Colliery Band.
The Band gave a concert in Crook Civic Hall tonight with Guest soloist, Alan Morrison. Although the Band felt this wasn't the best concert that we had given, the audience thought differently.
One of the pieces performed was a new arrangement by the bands percussionist, Alan Beaumont, of A Hundred Pipers. During the piece, the Band's youngest player, Nicola Evans, gave an excellent display of Highland Dancing and left the stage to great applause.
