Today saw the Band perform at The Cumberland Arms in Byker today as part of their Halloween Beer Festival.
It was an honour today to play and pay our respects to a past member of the band, Brian Scurfield. A big thank you to Jenn, Tom, Mel, Alan and Mark for helping us out to make today possible. Thanks must also go to Tim for taking on the role of conductor.
The Band Website has a new look and layout. It is also more Mobile Friendly now. Also, there is a "new" News Page. It is now a Blog Page but retains the title of News. This is also more user friendly.
It is with much sadness that the Band has learnt of the death of Brian Scurfield on 16th October 2016. Brian played with the old Crookhall Band for many years and joined Esh Colliery Band in the late 70's. before leaving to pursue other avenues. He rejoined the Band in 1999 and remained with us until 2009, when he sadly had to resign with severe arthritis in his hands.
The Band send their condolences to his wife Joan and family.
This afternoon saw the Band perform at Beamish Museum today. It seemed as though it was going to be a wet concert but it dried up and was a really nice day to play in today. A big thank you goes to Kym for helping us out and also Steve and Michael helping us out at short notice.
