Today, the band has had a really successful coffee morning, raising much needed funds for our trip to the National Finals in September. Although Durham was a little quiet, we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along to support. We raised an amazing £319.12. Also, a huge thank you to all the band members who came along to run a stall or make a cuppa and to Sue & Paul Harrison for donating the hire of the hall. We still have tickets left for our Grand Raffle so get in touch if you want to be in with a chance of winning some fabulous prizes.

Today saw the band performing at Saltburn bandstand. A concert we have now been doing for more than 20 years and always had a very appreciative audience. We were very lucky that the rain decided to hit us just after we finished our last note. We would like to say a massive thank you to Gavin Brown who helped us out on Solo Cornet today. We really appreciate your help. Today was also the first concert for James Norman who has joined the band on the trombone section while studying at Durham University. We hope he enjoys his time with the band in-between his studies.  We are delighted to welcome two new signings to the band. David Scott responded to our advert and takes the Principal Cornet seat and Olivia Nattrass joins the solo cornet bench. We hope they both have a long and happy time with the band.
Today has seen the band return to the Durham Miners Gala today. It's been a great day for us to return with sunshine, amazing music, marching bands and lots of banners. It was a pleasure to take Esh Winning, Durham University UCU and Adventure Banners into Durham. A massive thank you to everyone who helped us out today. We couldn't have done it without you all. All over for another year - thank you. Many thanks to Roy Lambeth from the Durham Miners Museum for taking some of the photos of the band during today. The band would like to say a huge thank you to the good people of Durham who dug deep to support our fundraising effort today. We collected an amazing £483.43 in our buckets while performing in the market place. We would also like to say thank you to Durham Markets for their continued support and to our deps David and Beth. Your help and support is very much appreciated. Tomorrow we are competing in the Picnic in the park competition on Durham Racecourse. If you are in the area bring a picnic and come and give us a cheer from 11am. |
