In the bleak mid winter ................ this Band worked very hard.
The Band have now taken a break for Christmas after a busy period. We have walked the streets and stood outside supermarkets collecting (Championship section band's take note, this is how you keep going when you don't have a sponsor). We performed at our usual festive haunts giving concerts and for the first time we actually put on a Christmas Concert which was well received by those who attended. The band also performed a new arrangement by the Band's Percussionist Alan Beaumont called Yuletide Gallop, this is a version of Post Horn Gallop but with a festive feel, this was played by our very own Santa Claus in the shape of our Principal Cornet, Michael Evans.
On the 14th December we held our 3rd presentation night and band Christmas Dinner. Tim Pearson was awarded his 5 years service award, Garry Mitchell, who is a fireman and was on duty could not attend, was awarded his 20 years service award, his son Josh received the award on his behalf, and Ray Evans was awarded the 35 years service award.
Nicola Evans (8) was awarded the Most Improved Player Of The Year and Ralph Bell (a lot older than 8) was awarded the Player Of The Year. (see Awards and Mug Shots pages for photos).
The band finished off with the traditional Christmas Carol Service at Quebec Church.
