The Band performed a concert at the Church of St. Philip & St. James at Witton-le-Wear tonight. The concert was to mark the 100 years rebuild of the church, the concert was a great success. The Band presented the church with a framed presentation score of a fanfare. The Band's Percussionist, Alan Beaumont had composed for the occasion.
John Moody made his debut performance tonight.
Lindsey Wright (1st Horn), played in her last regular concert for the Band tonight as she leaves for sunny Scarborough tomorrow to attend University. We say regular concert as she has promised to return whenever she can to continue playing for us. The Band would like to wish Lindsey all the best.
The band played at David 'Steady' Patterson and Allison's wedding today. A small group played at the church and then joined the remainder of the Band for the reception at Whitworth Hall. Steady although not an active member of the Band now keeps coming out of 'retirement' to help us in contests and major concerts. The Band would like to wish David and Allison all the best for the future.
The Band welcomed John Moody to the Senior Band after he successfully passed his audition. John takes up the 2nd Horn seat. John's son Liam is a Member of the Back Row Cornet Section.
A group from the Band played 'background' music tonight at Mary & Jonathan Hayton's anniversary BBQ which was held in their garden. It was a great night with plenty of food and drink. It has been suggested we make this an annual affair. Mary & Jonathan are Band Patrons.
