This weekend, the Band travelled down to Cheltenham for the National Championships of Great Britain for the 4th Section Finals. It was an early start for the Band as the coach travelled to collect people. Once we got down to Cheltenham, it was straight into the practice at Cheltenham's Band Hall. We had about 30 Minutes practice and whilst the practice was going on, we found out that we were drawn as the 4th Band to play.
Once we had travelled to Cheltenham Racecourse and into The Centaur, it was a few minutes to wait until it was time to register The Band and then go through to wait to go onto the stage. We then got onto the stage, prepared ourselves and then we got playing. A few hours had passed before it was time for the results. In the end, the Band managed to finish in 3rd Position, which is an excellent result for the Band in the National Finals. We also managed to win the Best Instrumentalist Prize (Which went to John Hudson who was playing Flugel Horn). We then went back to the Hotel where we were stopping for the night and then the Band had Celebratory Pizza's at 1am on Sunday Morning. The Band would like to say a big thank you to Michael Evans for conducting in Tim Oldroyd's absence and a thank you to Tim Oldroyd for his work when he has been at practices over the last few months.
On Sunday, we then started the journey back home and up to the North East where we could bring some silverware back up with us. It has been a fantastic weekend for the band.
