Annual General Meeting & Presentation Evening

Tonight saw the band host its Annual General Meeting virtually on Zoom. It was good to see all the band and have a catch up as well as do the official business. It has been a strange year, but as a band, we have stuck together.

At the end of the meeting, the presentation of awards took place, virtually. The first trophy which was awarded was The David Waterworth trophy for Player of the Year, as nominated by David & Phillip.
This was awarded to our percussion player Charlotte Tait

• This was awarded to Charlotte in recognition of her outstanding dedication to the band both in learning her parts and her outstanding performances over the last year on Timps.

The second trophy which was awarded was The Most Improved Section Trophy
This was awarded to the Euphonium and Baritone section

• This was awarded by our conductor, Phillip, based on the sections' improvement during the lead up to the Area Contest. Congratulations goes to Jonathan, Keith, David and Lucy

The third trophy which was awarded was The Alan Beaumont Most Improved Player, as nominated by Alan & Phillip.
This was awarded to our Principal Euphonium player Jonathan Wigham

• ​This was awarded to Jonathan in recognition of his outstanding dedication to the band and for going above and beyond  to rehearse his part each week before lockdown, and still does now in preparation for our virtual videos. He has been with us for over a year now and definitely fits within the band with his dry sense of humour.

The fourth trophy which was awarded was Bandsperson of the Year.
This was awarded to Tim Packer.

• ​This was awarded to Tim by each band member voting. The vote was unanimous and we all wanted to show our appreciation for all the hard work and dedication he has put into our virtual videos since the band went into lockdown back in March. They are not easy to do and take a long time to edit and piece together. Tim is a natural at what he does and his musical ear and design expertise go hand in hand to produce some amazing things. These videos have kept the band together and kept us playing which has been vital in ensuring the band survives this pandemic.

The final award which was awarded this year was to Michael Evans for his 45 Years of dedicated service to the band. The band members helped create this award by thinking of words that summed up Michael and his time with the band. Some of these included: passionate, dedicated, Last Post, post horn, Santa Claus, perfectionist, Switzerland, 1975, helpful, conductor, memories, family and friends.
