Today the Band performed at the opening of the Ushaw Moor Community Garden. The garden was opened by the Mayor and Lady Mayoress and has been established as a positive youth diversion programme based around horticulture and agriculture supporting the Durham Agency Against Crime (HAGGRID Project). Whilst the Band managed a 20 minute set just prior to the official opening, the weather once again called the shots and an unrequested downpour brought proceedings to a halt. However, the Band moved into a nearby hall to entertain the guests who also enjoyed an
excellent buffet. Ushaw Moor Action Group were also raising funds for Thomas Brennan, a local 5 year boy who suffers from spastic diplegic cerebral palsy to enable him to go to America for ground breaking surgery to allow him to walk properly. The Band donated the majority of their fee to the cause. We wish Thomas all the best for the future and hope the operation is successful.
