The Band were placed 3rd in the North of England Brass Band Championships in Darlington today which is a fantastic result, especially after last year. The Band played very well and deserve this position. Even before the results, Michael (Our Principal Cornet and Assistant Conductor), said that the Band played well and he was proud to be in this Band, so it was great to be able to pay him and Vince back for all their hard work in getting the Band to a podium position and say thank you.
Also at the contest, Arlene Bell, the widow of Ralph Bell, one of the founder members of the Band and Euphonium Player, who sadly passed away Last August, presented the first ever Ralph Bell Memorial Trophy donated by the Band, for the Best Euphonium Player at the Contest. This went to Glen Kilburn of South Milford Brass, the winners of the Contest. We are sure that Ralph was looking down and was extremely proud of Arlene as were all of the Band.
